This is one of my favorite short walks through the wine region known La Côte, or “the banks” because it rises from the shores of Lake Geneva. It’s a short easy walk – just a little over an hour – and mostly flat.
When you’ve lived in a place for a long time, many walks are simply about the memories. This path through the vineyards between Luins and Bursins is full of emotion for me. It resonates with memories of dinners with dear friends, wine tastings, baptisms, a heartbreaking funeral. All of that – all the rich intensity of life, both joyous and sad – is with me as I walk among the vines.
